Retail Bag Design: Target

Date: 1/10/17

1. How do you believe your design relates to the corporate Identity of your company?

I believe my design relates to the corporate identity of Target by the use of repetition and color. The typical target bag is just a repetition of its signature target logo. I incorporated repetition by using the target ornaments around the bag and the repetition of the word holiday inside the bag. I also used the target red, which anybody can recognize.

2. How does your bag portray the “holiday”?

My bag portrays the holiday by the use of ornaments shaped as the Target logo. When somebody thinks of ornaments, they usually think of the holiday season. I also incorporated the use of the word holiday in a word pattern for the inside of my bag.

3. Do you think that the company you designed for would really use your bag? Why or why not?

Yes I do think the target would use my bag. Target is not a high end store, and this is not a high end looking bag. My bag is clean and simple; something anybody could recognize. It also keeps the reperion from the normal shopping bag.

4. What makes your bag Unique and Different?

What makes my bag unique and different is the inside.Companies don't usually incorporate a design on the inside, but I made a really simple outside and had a more complicated inside.

5. Describe the process in which you took to create the bag? (From beginning to end)

To make this bag I first had to choose a company, which I thought was the most difficult part. I wanted a company that I loved and would be able to have a fun bag. I chose Target, a store that I shop at frequently. I then had to create the outline (which had the cut layers and the fold layers). After this we could start our design. I had to find the Target Logo and image trace it so it wouldn't be blurry.I also had to create the ornament top and the string. Then I started the inside. I created a white cube and turned the ‘O’ in ‘HOLIDAY’ to the Target Logo. I created the repeated design until it would fill up bag. The second to last step was printing the bag. After we printed it we had to assemble it. We had to glue the inside and outside together, then fold the pieces to tape them shut.
